Worst case, it’s shit and you return it.

Is the drive user replaceable or you get what you get?

Nvm, it comes as an enclosure, no drive.

Is it not possible to manipulate VMs in FreeNAS outside of the gui?

Bummer if so.

Manipulate how?

I want to passthrough a pcie device, but it appears even start/stop via cli isn’t an option. vm command is disabled and iohyve can’t see any vms.

iXsystem’s site is down, so it’s difficult to Google-fu it atm.

Yeah I see what you mean now. I thought I had the latest manual downloaded but I forgot that I don’t have access to that after my 3700x troubleshooting until the PCIe issues on that are resolved. Woops lol

Yeah, I don’t think what I want to do is going to work on FreeNAS. Basically, I have a backup system with a tape drive. I want to use FreeNAS to handle the backups but then have the tape in a CentOS vm running LTFS.

I think I will have to start over with a hypervisor, pass the HBA to a FreeNAS VM and pass the tape drive to a CentOS VM.

I’m probably going to downsize my home setup with something like that in the future

Anyone know why Cockpit would report a qcow2 file this way? It has no snapshots and 564GB is bigger than the drive it’s on… Filesystem says it’s 272GB.

why are you using cuckpit?

Can you provide more info about the backing disk/file system?

It’s a vanilla fedora install (lvm/ext4) on a 500gb ssd. All it does is run 1 windows VM. The vm was made in virt-manager with a 300gb qcow2 file for storage.

Running cockpit because path of least resistance.

*a real sysadmin doesn’t use any helper tools, just sysvinit and bash.

what does it it say with you run ls -lh and du -sh on the qcow?

That was du -sh.

Normies have to use it.

I know. All the same, it’s not how I’d usually do things.

(x) Doubt

I’m guessing there’s a bug in cockpit…

Create another small one and see how it reports it?
