i switch to pipewire because i heard it doesnt have pulse’s choppy/stuttering issues. but yet pipewire also has this! granted, pipewire does it slightly lesser than pulse did, but i was really hoping to be rid of choppy audio entirely.
is there any sound solution out there that DOESNT have this problem? i find it difficult to believe that after all these years, nobody’s made a flawlessly functioning sound server for linux.
does anybody here have a popping-free sound setup on linux? if so, how did you achieve it?

Hello, I also encounted stuttering after upgrading to Debian 12 with Firefox and WINE applications.
I installed and ran this application to help troubleshoot:
In my case the major source of stuttering came from the CPU governer settings.

If you install the linux-cpupower package, you can use:
$ sudo cpupower frequency-set -g performance
and verify that the changes were applied with:
$ sudo cpupower frequency-info -p
Example output:
analyzing CPU 0:
current policy: frequency should be within 2.20 GHz and 3.80 GHz.
The governor "performance" may decide which speed to use
within this range.
After applying this, I found that audio no longer stuttered or dropped out, and CPU usage of FL studio was cut in half.
Hope that this helps ease your frustration like it did for me.

the performance governor is unavailable to me due to a Dell BIOS bug. attempting to use it just locks the cpu to ~700Mhz
see CPU scaling governors dont work, linux wont obey my command!

Both Pulse and Pipewire work fine for me on Bookworm using a Schiit Fulla.
