Hello everyone, I am hoping some random person here has got the magic bullet to make this awful motherboard, that I bought in a storm of impatience, work. If you know how to fix the issue I describe below thank god please help me!
I’ve got a Xeon W 13xx, a Broadcom hba, and I have been failing miserably at adding an Intel networking card to the second pcie slot on this board. Basically, no matter which physical slot my Intel xxv710 card is installed in (a borrowed e810 as well) the motherboard will freeze on the bios splash screen and the caterr led comes on. I am pretty new to the diy server/workstation space, I’ve worked with several gaming/consumer boards and never seen an issue like this. When I snoop the post code where the hang occurs it is always a2 - no bootable device detected.
So far I’ve tried changing a few bios settings like the top of low useable ram, trying to disable the option rom for the slot the nic is, disabling pxe boot options I have also put the intel cards into a windows pc and turned off lots of the card functions like the pxe etc. no matter what I do the outcome is always the same, freeze on post code a2 and caterr led.
Do you folks have any ideas about what I can do to figure out why this card is not working? I am brand new to Supermicro stuff so aside from pulling the post codes from bmc I don’t know how to dig into exactly what is breaking during the boot process.
Thanks
