Same here. Mine is an OEM Samsung pulled from an HP prebuilt (maybe laptop? Idunno, bought on Reddit). It’s not even on the compatibility list for my motherboard but it works great.
They actually managed to measure differences in that Gamers Nexus piece. They were small, but measurable. So there is some difference. One can logically predict that with newer and more powerful cards being released on a regular basis, that the measurable difference will increase over time. With AM4 being supported to 2020 who knows how constraining 8 lanes would be on the top-end DGPU at that time?
That said @QwertyMcSpacebar seems to be going for a low-power system, which excludes high-end DGPUs from consideration… so, again, it shouldn’t be an issue for him. It might, however, be an issue for someone else.
