I blew the Microphone port on my motherboard, both rear and header due to a short in a mic. Currently I’m using a low quality steelseries USB to 3.5mm microphone. Is there a DAC that is good quality that has a Microphone port? I found this Amazon.com
I can’t find any good reviews on it so I’m thinking it might not be that good. I could get a sound card for my microphone port but I feel like that’s a waste. Any suggestions?
Generally creative sound products are pretty decent.
In budget consumer goods, the reviews tell all.
I just bought this not to long ago. I was looking for something that could pump a bit more volume into my headphones since my motherboard just wasn't cutting it. I'm no audiophile so I didn't see the need spend a lot of money on a DAC, and I didn't want to crowed my case up with a sound card.
It sounds pretty nice to me and the AMP inside boosted the volume quite a bit. I have no complaints. The mic pics my voice up from a good distance but I haven't had anyone on the other end to let me know how it sounds, plus I have a Blue Snowball
For the sub $100 I have found Fiio makes a great DAC. They have a full range of DAC devices to include portable ones that can drive most studio monitoring headphones. Here is an example of a simple no fuss one.
They have a huge range of devices that you can find by searching Fiio DAC into AMazon all departments. Their ratings match or beat similar Creative products.
