I like to use a Magic Trackpad as a multi-touch input device since currently there’s nothing comparable quality-wise on the market. But I like to use it under Windows.
I have been using an older model, Space Grey with a Lightning charging port for many years, that one works completely fine, Apple released Windows drivers and these enable 4-finger gestures. No need for third-party software.
Wanted to get another Magic Trackpad, only the current USB-C model was locally available. Then noticed that the previous Boot Camp Windows drivers (dated 2022, still the latest? Cp. Boot Camp (software) - Wikipedia ) don’t work with the 2024 model.
Am I retarded? Can anyone confirm that?
Why did I expect it to work?
There are still Intel Macs that officially support the latest macOS version and Boot Camp. Even if Apple might not support Windows 11, Windows 10 is still not EOL.
Older Magic Trackpad drivers (like the ones from Boot Camp 2022) are designed for Intel-based Macs and specific hardware revisions, such as the Lightning port models. They rely on certain drivers and firmware that are not compatible with the newer USB-C (2024) Magic Trackpad.
