The Steam client has been incredibly buggy for me after a fresh install of Arch. I installed it via pacman, installing the Steam and ttf-liberation package, and fiddled with the settings after reading through the Steam Troubleshooting Arch Wiki article yet the client is still incredibly buggy and unresponsive. Any suggestions
Have you tried something like ubuntu or fedora to see if you can narrow the problem down to your arch install?
Maybe describing what “incredibly buggy” means would be a start for troubleshooting?
