I would recommend doing an rsync tutorial video. That is a very powerful file treansfer, sync program
yeah ill do a rsync tutorial soon as well as ftp ssh and a few other common protocols
Episode 4 now out : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hmCZ1DF30M
My top 3 versions of linux for desktops and embedded devices like routers
If i may critique, Doing a top 3 this early in the series was a bit unecessary in my opinion, if anything it was confusing as the direction of the series is supposed to be a begginers guide so to speak. Someone expecting tutorials or a walkthrough would be swayed by this, If anyting I would have put out the episode 4 video as a standalone video on a different day of the week, and continued with the tutorials and walkthroughs on Monday... Just my opinion.
yeah I understand I was doing a top 3 of some good Linux distro's for beginners to use but ill be doing tutorials only now for this series
Episode 5 Now Out basic ftp command usage
just used obs and that what I had my settings at for game capture :)
I think the series has gone beyond the scope of "beginners", no offense, The first 3 videos were in the right direction... I just think beginners are mostly trying to learn the terminal and commands, updating software, looking for compatible apps/plugins/programs for a similar Windows experience and backing up files and systems. The last couple of videos seem more intermediate to high for a Linux first timer or subjective in my opinion.
yeah sorry for that just ran out of ideas for the beginners part of it but if you have any ideas comment them and ill make a video on it
see below
ok ill go over some alternative programs on monday I did a few in the first episode but ill do more like install java or flash (even with all their security risks some people still need them) etc
using rsync to backup directories, people always want to back up files. Maybe write a bash script or explain rsync switches and syntax. Like you said, installing flash and java, libre office functionality, pdf/comic viewer/ebook readers or converter software, compression programs like gzip, bz2, p7zip, or setting up a cron job to automate things.
there are so many things beginners usually ask.
ok this week ill do a video on alternative programs and next week ill do a video on some basic programming and automation
what should the next video be about
