Okay so I am looking for a stable distro I can have minimal and then install either bspwm or monsterwm, this machine will be primarily used for programming
Debian does not work btw due to the ati drivers

OpenSuSE supports all DE's and WM's in official repos. Arch does that also.
OpenSuSE by default installs Gnome and IceWM by the way, preconfigured.
Manjaro is available in a very nice OpenBox version.
There are many options.
What AMD drivers are you talking about, radeon and radeonsi are in Debian. You have to use Debian Sid to get modern features, but everything is there. It's not like you have to use Catalyst to have performance in linux, the open source drivers work just fine, and from kernel 3.20 on (the amdkfd is merged in 3.19 which is out, but the corresponding AMDGPU userspace drivers isn't coming out till 3.20 is dropped, which isn't long, a matter max two months lolz), you won't need blobs any more anyway, you only need a bleeding edge distro.
Arch with lts kernel and without devel packages should suffice, you know it too lol
