So I've got Ubuntu Gnome 14.04. Got my Teamspeak server going and launched the client. Found that I couldn't get any sound from the mic. I go to the system settings and go to sound and there's no option to select an audio device. I have it plugged into my front I/O and I am getting sound from my headphones, and it does see my sound card.
I've looked around and people have been saying to open Gstreamer-properties but I try different plugins and different devices I get no change. No sound from the mic. No device to select in the sound settings.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Worked it out. I decided I'd try skype and see what I can do there. Being a total noob to linux I didn't know the existence of the pulse audio volume control. Just hit a search for it in your apps and go to the input devices tab. It should say something like Built-in Audio Analog Stereo on the top left of the tab. There is a drop down box labeled "port" This is where it will pull audio from. So if you want it out of the front panel just select it. Worked just fine for me.
try 'alsamixer' in the terminal
When I turn up the line boost I hear a click that echos for a moment while I am running the sound test in teamspeak, but no sound from anywhere else.
Input source is line and input source 1 is rear mic. I turned all the inputs to the max.
check to make sure your settings in teamspeak are configured properly.
Well the problem there is that I don't know how to configure it properly. I have the options for ALSA and pulse audio in capture modes. Then for capture devices I have the option for the intel sound card (HDA Intel PCH) on ALSA and "built-in Audio Analog Stereo"
ALSA also has a custom device option, and both of them have an option for Default (which is what I assume would be the chosen option in the sound settings)
Also, on default on both Pulse and ALSA it replays what is playing through my headphones. Not any sounds I make.
you've been trouble shooting this correctly. The audio is working, but the mic is not being picked up. Hmmm guys we may need your help for this matter @Novasty @Taco_Bell @R00tz31820
Nice to hear I've been doing it right.
