I don't know all the things that L1T uses for news sources, but I for one am a big fan of news on breakthroughs in science, tech and society, and futurism. I'd say the best source would be having JSTOR access, but that'd just be pedantic. The problem with the internet blogosphere and MSM is that they rarely have any understanding of the science stories they break, or make conclusions from studies that either don't have the necessary scope, or conclude the opposite in some cases.
Yes. I agree. And Futurism.com does that with half its content, stretching the truth and being overly eager. But most guys I listed in that twitter group, they are The actual scientists, not the blogosphere.
They're not reputable by any means (as far as I'm aware) but they're cool. If cool is what you're looking for. To me, futuretimeline is impressive for the style and the way it presents its history archive.
