You were or your were on something else. Voice on discord is a separate system from chat you have to manually connect to it before it does anything.

So, after several other issues, including pulseaudio choosing to ignore that my mic exists, I finally got everything working. I appreciate all the input from everybody! You guys and/or girls are awesome!

You can always use the Flatpak: https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.discordapp.Discord
It works really well and it is updated.
