[solved] Asus zenith ea2 3970x 3090 BSOD after 2 days mining

Hi all, need help. I built a threadripper 3970x, rtx 3090, asus zenith extreme alpha 2 system for gaming and mining. However it BSOD after 1-2 days while mining. I mine with the cpu and gpu, and while this is a heavy stress on the system, is it normal for it to bsod this often? I analyzed the crash dump and it traces to usbport.sys every time. I tried to unregister and reregister usbport.sys but got an error message. i do have 3 external drives, a joystick and a steering wheel plugged in which all still operate normally. I have tried updating my ssd’s firmware, updating to ahci drivers, sfc scannow, tested ram, updated all device drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Process of elimination. If you can run without the drives start there, see if uptime improves.

Thank you, I will try that.

I have about 6 days uptime since I made the following tweak, which I will share now and hope others can use. As I was getting an error involving usbport.sys I decided there was a problem with one of my USB devices. However, since I have 9 devices plugged in at once figuring out which one was the culprit one by one would be too time consuming. What I did was simply toggle “USB selective suspend setting” to enabled. This can be accessed from the power settings under advanced settings. I assume this puts unused USB devices to sleep, but I have not experienced any drawbacks in usage. It is working like a charm so far in improving my uptime! Best wishes everyone.

Great to hear you found a solution!
