Sol Republic Doesn't Like Critical Reviews

So my employer gave me a 70% off coupon for Sol Republic. I decided to get their most expensive pair of headphones that they claim is for "Studio Use" because Calvin Harris designed them to sound "good". Normally $250 I got them for about $70. When I got them in I listened to them un-amplified and amplified by a mayflower O2. In my listening session I found some things I didn't like about their sound quality. I explained on their website's review system that they are inaccurate and suffer from what I call Beats Syndrome. The bass was over amplified and muddy, and the treble was cranked up and slightly distorted but not as much as the bass. The mids where simply not there. I explained this in detail, but it wasn't all negative. I did tell them they did a great job with the build quality. The headband is basically indestructible and everything feels solid. I gave them a 2/5 because of the value to performance. Well apparently they review their reviews. I got an email about a week later telling me that my review would not be published, and I should write a new one. So I decided to check their website for negative reviews. The only ones that were negative had something like a defective cable or can which was resolved.

What I want to know is what do y'all think about this business practice? Does this seem right to control what reviewers post about your products, or am I just crazy?

Sure it's right.  Right for their profits!  *waits for rim shot*

Lol, no.  It's pretty shady.  I understand filtering reviews, to weed out the spam, trolls or fake reviews (though, this should be done after the fact, not on an approval basis).  But filtering out valid negative reviews?  Not so much.  Especially with headphones, as so much of the listening experience is subjective.  What sound profiles some people like, others will not.  So of course some people aren't going to like your product as much as others.  You should always be weary when you see across the board good reviews for any speakers or headphones, because some people just aren't going to enjoy the sound they produce.  That's just the way our ears work.

If it were me I'd make a point of posting the feedback on third party merchant and review sites.

I might even take out the good stuff since they tried to censor your feedback in the first place.

no, simply add in that they scan their reviews and that they do this...them looking shady is SO much worse than a bad product.

Thank god I got it for so cheap. I can flip it for double what I bought it for. lol

Just in case anyone from the Tek Syndicate team sees this. I would be happy to send you my pair as a review sample because I'm pretty sure you guys have more influence than me on the internet when it comes to reviews.
