So my employer gave me a 70% off coupon for Sol Republic. I decided to get their most expensive pair of headphones that they claim is for "Studio Use" because Calvin Harris designed them to sound "good". Normally $250 I got them for about $70. When I got them in I listened to them un-amplified and amplified by a mayflower O2. In my listening session I found some things I didn't like about their sound quality. I explained on their website's review system that they are inaccurate and suffer from what I call Beats Syndrome. The bass was over amplified and muddy, and the treble was cranked up and slightly distorted but not as much as the bass. The mids where simply not there. I explained this in detail, but it wasn't all negative. I did tell them they did a great job with the build quality. The headband is basically indestructible and everything feels solid. I gave them a 2/5 because of the value to performance. Well apparently they review their reviews. I got an email about a week later telling me that my review would not be published, and I should write a new one. So I decided to check their website for negative reviews. The only ones that were negative had something like a defective cable or can which was resolved.
What I want to know is what do y'all think about this business practice? Does this seem right to control what reviewers post about your products, or am I just crazy?
