Yay IT job. Boss told me we had no use for them anymore, to go ahead and either send them to the scrapper or take them home.
First one is an LSI SAS9220-8i
-Raid 0,1,10,JBOD
Second is an AMCC 9650SE-4LPML
-Raid 0,1,5,10,JBOD
Both cards still retail for around $200-300 each.
Question is a matter of opinion, really.
Should I do hardware raid or set them to JBOD and use them for my ZFS pool?
I have tested, and both are detected in FreeBSD just fine, with the exception of the LSI, having to add a proprietary driver.
Currently, my ZFS array is 4x 3tb WD Greens in Raid Z1, but I'm running out of space, and was thinking of getting another handful of drives.
What do you guys think?
