I can run Fallout 3 and NV without a hitch with any mods i like, but vanilla Skidrim....

30-75fps.... i hate the large dips in FPS.... makes my eyes strain.

And to think I thought about switching to intel for Skyrim...
Oh man, Skyrim's a mess... The engine is just shit. LOD distance is fucked with trees poping up, unloaded patches of water, sky water reflections glitchy, and pitch black grass near a light source. And to top it all of, bad performance and heavily consolized.
Come to think of it, I don't really know why I like Skyrim in the first place. It's a crapy, buged and dumbed down game.

If you have a friend that's willing to bring you his GPU (if it's more powerful, obviously) you can try it that way.
Well.... my AMD rig barely breaks 30fps on high with a 7770 and Phenom II at 4.2GHZS... so i will just blame the game....
I have an HD 6850 and an FX-6100 at 4.2 GHz and get around 40 fps average and 30 fps min.
You should really try that mod out. Who knows, it may help. Also might want to look at this one http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4
EDIT: My game is also heavily moded.
I have 3570k @4.2Ghz and HD 7850 @1000Mhz and I get 60-45fps
