Setup Assistance -Combo USB-C Power Delivery & DisplayPort 1.4 KVM - Triple Monitor

KVM Model:

Combo USB-C Power Delivery & DisplayPort 1.4 KVM - Triple Monitor

USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):

5GB ( I think)

Problem:

I have recently purchased the KVM to assist my WFH setup. I’m sorry I know you guys have so much detail here on the forums, but I can’t quite work out the correct path for my simple setup. My guess is that I need a Moshi Cable or a Conbiner, but can’t quite work out which one.

  • I am only running 2 monitors (for now).
  • I have an oldish gaming PC with a 3080. I have it connected via 2 x DP out into the PC 1 inputs, along with the PC1 USB c input
  • I have a work laptop, connected via usb c to PC2.

Here’s what happens.

  • If I connect the Monitors to DP main and one of the other DP outs, I only get 1 monitor on my gaming PC and a different Monitor for my Laptop. Nothing else detected.
  • If I connect the Monitors to the 2 Top DP outs, I get 2 screens for my gaming PC and no monitors detected for my laptop.

This is likely user error, however I expected that my setup wasn’t too complicated for this level of KVM.

It is much more important to me that I have 2 monitors for my work laptop then it is for my gaming rig, but would be nice to have both.

Appreciate your help.

Regards,

Binza

You can use the USB-C cable included with the KVM to connect your laptop to the PC2 port, plug the two monitors into the KVM’s DP Main and DP 1 outputs, respectively, and then switch between input sources using the buttons on the KVM’s front panel.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. But this is not working this way for some reason. If I connect the Monitors to DP main and DP1 outs, I only get 1 monitor on my gaming PC and a different Monitor for my Laptop. Nothing else detected.

Your gaming PC needs two separate DP cables to connect to the top and bottom DP input ports on PC1 of the KVM. As for the laptop, besides using the Moshi cable to connect to the top DP input port on PC2, you must also create a DP loopback on the bottom port of PC2 (connecting the output back to the input) to recognize both monitors.

Roger that. Thankyou.
