Setting up an old network switch

i recently got my hands on an ASUS GIGAX1024P 1U network switch, and I'm planning on using it as the main network hub for all the computers and stuff in my house, but i'm having some trouble setting it up.

well, the main problem that i ran into is that the switch uses ancient proprietary asus software, built in 2004. I found a manual for the switch on the internet, and followed the regular set up instructions, but I ran into a problem when actually running the software.

asus why

It appears that the program can't access anything related to the network. weird. I tried running in all kinds of compatibility modes, i tried different computers, but none of them have been able to discover the switch. (i'm connecting directly to one of the ports on the switch btw)

oh god i wish this thing just had management over http.

ANYWAY, my questions to you netwurking wizards on the forum are... what can i do to make this work. do you think its possible that i can use different software to configure the switch? maybe something more up to date? is it possible that i just need to be running windows xp for the program to properly access my NICs? is this even worth doing?

beep.

Have you tried performing a factory reset on the switch? This may help. (Under section 3.3.3 in the manual)
