Secure Easure / Formatting

Back in the day i used DBAN exclusively as my go to choice when it came to formatting my hard drive either for a fresh Windows install or if i happen to sell or gift old hardware to friends/family. That said, its been some time since I've had reason to do that and was thinking about doing a fresh install on my windows laptop (has an SSD only). Is this still one of the go to pieces of freely available software to do the job?

i think dban is still a good solution.  but im not so sure for SSD's as the method to secure erase a regular disk hard drive might severely limit the life of your ssd.

Hey Anarekist, apologize for the late response (crazy work schedule). Thanks for the heads up and link to the additional information regarding SSDs. Looks like i'll use dban for my data drive and the above posted solution for my SSD. Thanks again!
