So when I first built my rig I had issues with the screen resolution. I set it at 1920x1080 within the windows 8 interface and the AMD Vision control engine. For a week or two when i first built my rig a couple of months ago I could not get it to use the entire screen. There are about one inch margins on the edges of the screen. I finally fixed it and was very satisfied using AMD vision control. Now that I updated Windows 8 to 8.1 it is back to having the the margins not being utilized and it is extremely frustrating because I do not remember how I fixed it the first time and its not easy to find the controls to do so. Can anyone help???
my GPU im using is a AMD Radeon HD ASUS 7850 2GB CU2 and the monitor im using is an LED 22 inch HDTV brand is Sansui
I'm guessing that you are connecting with a HDMI cable, and need to adjust the overscan scaling. It's named Scaling Options under the My Digital Flat-Panels section in the Catalyst Control Center. Go there and adjust the overscan so that it fits your TV just right. Or/and look for a setting in the TV's own setup for some kind of computer specific mode. Not every set has that type of setting but when they do the picture can become better in several ways.
okay thanks for the advice guys...theres still one problem....after i fixed this the first time i used catalyst...Now that i updated to windows 8.1 catalyst is no where to be found on my computer :( the only thing that shows up in my system tray now is AMD vision control engine which is for multidisplays and does not allow me to get rid of the 1 inch margins. What is my next move?
