Sapphire r9 290x

So I'm looking at the SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X R9 290X 4GB GDDR5 TRI-X to replace my msi 280x (its not a stable card, at least mine isn't, even after flashing to the more stable bios from msi it still has screen flicker and i have to down lock it to 280 specs for it to run stably)

I have a corsair rm1000 power supply, but i have an i7 4790k (at stock speeds) with a corsair h100i cooling it, two hdd and 1 ssd and a dvd writer in a cooler master haf x case. Will it fit and work?

And if so will i notice a performance boost (in say skyrim)? Again i'm buying it as I need a new card, so i thought to get the best of the r9s (sapphire served me well in the past i only went with msi as it came with a deal with my msi motherboard, which is fine i think it is just the card i had) thanks for any help.

I don't know If It Will fit, Just get a tape measure and find out of It fits. Card dimensions are stated on the cards website or the place You buy it

I think it'll be tight but I think it will fit

yes their will be a decent performance boost in skyrim and another game you wiil see a good boost in performance and you will be able to oc it a lot with the trix cooler

According To manufactorer websites Your gpu Will fit quote easily in that case (pun intended)

the 290X Vapor X is a great card definitely.

But i´m tempting to say, wait for the 300 series.
i expect them to be announced at computex.
AMD has to release their 300 series anytime soon.

Do we have any actual benches it anything? 290s go for $190 on eBay so you can literally get two for a little more than the price of a 970. Unless the 380 has really improved the Hawaii architecture I bet it will be like comparing a 280 to a 7970.

Yeah i was wondering that; no doubt the 300s will be much more expensive especially at launch, the prices won't be reasonable until after xmas, which is too long for me, again i was looking at the 290x to replace a dying 280x

I kind of doubt the performance the r9 290/290x offers is going to be able to be had much cheaper then now with the 300 series so if you really need a new card you probably wont regret it much.

How can we have benches from cards that are not even out yet?

Also i dont botter about ebay.
Because second hand will allways be way cheaper.
But Too much risk buying an ex coin miner.

A new 290X still goes for $300+ so yeah.
THe 380X is going to replace the 290X it will be a hawai rebrand with some upgrades. But this might be interessting for pricing.
I would not expect the 380X to be much more expensive then the current 290X, cause that would totaly make no sense.

290X Vapor X is a very good card, if you need a new card right now, then definitely go for it.
290X Vapor X or Msi 290X Lightning are the best 290X cards out there.

My point. Unless they drastically increase the clockspeed and TDP I don't think the 380 will make much of a difference. You are right about eBay having cards that were previously used to mine, but that's why you buy from someone with a good representation. It was merely an example of how cheap you can get a pair of 290s. I'd imagine since the 290x is still over $300 than you would be better off waiting for a 390. Like I said earlier, the 380 will be a re-brand of the 290 just as the 280 is to the 7970. It will most likely he incremental.

Yeah definitely.
If you can find a 290 from a reputable seller, then you can realy buy a nice card for cheap.

about the 290X vs 380X idk, i would expect them to perform very equaly.
But not sure what those rumored upgrades are going to bring.
Its still guessing.

I think if you can get a decent 290X right now like a Vapor X for a good price, then its realy tempting to pick it up.
Its a decent card, that will settle you for another 1.5 years atleast.

If "op´s" 280X is realy dying, then i would say grab a 290X Vapor X right now.
If he could hold on with it, then i would wait for the 300 series, cause that can be interessting for the 290X pricing aswell.

Yeah i'm going with the 290x, the sale is fulfilled by amazon so i'm sure it'll be fine. TBH on the 300 i'd have to wait anyway (as a poor student i cannot indulge in my hobbies as much as i'd like) and as i only game at 1080p atm i'm sure it;ll last me for enough time to afford the 300 series. Thanks all :)

Just make sure you get the new version of the 290x with dx12 and the two 8pin power.

Oh I have
