Hi,
today I got an Samsung PM9A3 U.2 and changed the sector size from 512b to 4k. After creating a zpool, I got the following error message:
“One or more devices are configured to use a non-native block size.”
[manja-02 ~]# zpool create -o ashift=12 tank02 /dev/nvme2n1
[manja-02 ~]# zpool status -v
pool: tank02
state: ONLINE
status: One or more devices are configured to use a non-native block size.
Expect reduced performance.
action: Replace affected devices with devices that support the
configured block size, or migrate data to a properly configured
pool.
config:
NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
tank02 ONLINE 0 0 0
nvme2n1 ONLINE 0 0 0 block size: 4096B configured, 32768B native
errors: No known data errors
Two weeks ago I did the same with an Intel P4618 and had no problem with it.
I mean it shows that 4096 bytes are supported?
[manja-02 ~]# nvme id-ns -H /dev/nvme2n1

edit: back to 512b and zpool created without specifying ashift, now it supposedly has 4096b, WTF?
