Safe temps for a R9 290 Sapphire Tri X?

So my 270x DVI ports died and bit the bullet and went out and got a R9 290 Sapphire. After getting it home and installing I was playing a game called Ori and the Blind Forest (Great game go get the game) and noticed my temps reached 78C with the default fan profile and realised that I had to turn VSYNC on. Tried running GTA V at max settings and it crashed D:. I was wondering how long would my card last for as to temp wise and such and is it safe.

EDIT* looked up some stuff and it seemed safe........

Do you have any airflow in your case?
In my case it would get dangerously hot and scare me a bit.
Since I got some decent airflow now my temps are around 55 to 58 when gaming with my modified fan profile.
I have the Vapor-X edition of the card by the way.
You are probably going to need an RMA if you do have a decent amount of airflow.
I am curious if you have a fan installed on your side panel, if yes, make sure the air is now blowing above the graphics card since the air goes up into the fans and up out the case.

Found out the reason for the slightly high temps. 2 of my fans were not running and they are not the fans that are on the heatsink. yea i know that my cable management is sloppy but it works.......

Looks alright with the flat black cables.
Good thing it was only the fans that were not running. Temps looking better now?

yeah thanks temps were lower by like 10 degrees or so thanks. man i forget stuff when i panicked.....

78C is still way below TJ max, which is 95C.

This is my setup. you can see here the only intake i have on the R9-290 is the two 80mm fans on the bottom of the case.

the R9-290 has never reached higher than 80C ever. depending on the game it sometimes doesn't even get to the mid 70s either. keep the card under 80C and you'll be fine.

Wish I could. I don't have any pwm splitters and the intake fan is running off a PWM to Molex while the exhaust fan is only connected to the only PWM header on the motherboard that is not labled cpu fan

This, for my quiet profile the top card runs at 92°C and it does so without any issues at all. And since the reference cards are designed to run at 95°C constantly you can be pretty sure that they will have a pretty long life if you stay below 90°C. Your temperatures are more than fine, nothing to worry about.
