RTX 4080 to 4090

Cheers!

I’ve read various forums and reviews. I have the RTX 4080, and I was wondering how much better the 4090 is. From the graphs in reviews, it seems to be around 27-30%. However, I can’t imagine how much noticeable can be in practice. Can you tell me if that’s a significant leap to be astonished by? Of course, I’m referring to the 30%. Is considering an upgrade from the 4080 to the 4090 nonsense?

My normal PC: 7800x3d, RTX 4080, GSKILL 64GB 6Ghz CL30, B650 TomaHawk Wi-Fi, MSI 850AG 850W, Corsair H150i Capellix XT, 4 x SSD M2 1TB, LianLi 216 Case.

So nothing special.

Assuming you sell the 4080 to cover the purchase cost ask yourself this:

  • is getting following perf. gain worth around 1000 USD+ ?
    • 1080p +12-15%
    • 1440p +18-21%
    • 2160p +30%

Those graphs are not lying, marginal value proposition of 4090 is questionable from gaming perspective, even more if you are already sporting 4080. Ref. here.

Unless you get amazing deal or you are also interested in professional usage, it would better to wait for blackwell.

What monitor are you using? IMO it’s only likely to be a noticeable difference at higher resolutions, refresh rates and with bells and whistles enabled (4k/120hz+/RTX).
