Hello All,
Just installed a new RTX 3090 into my workstation and it seems that games in Proton detect the card as a GTX 480!
I’m assuming there will be a new update of proton/dxvk at some point that will accommodate for this but until then does anyone know a way of changing what hardware is reported through proton/wine (it might be handled by DXVK not sure)?
Many Thanks
looks like that ebay deal was too good to be true afterall /s
curious does this break game support?

I’m assuming some games seem to simply check the card generation and then assume a feature won’t work rather than attempting to initialize it so specific features are just greyed out in the graphics menu. Most of my existing games though I have been able to play no problem - some of them detect its a GTX 480 but say it has 24gigs of vram…

Idk about dxvk settings but you can probably change game ini files, that’s what I’d do if it were windows
I wonder if it uses the wrong “optimizations” if the 3090 is recognized as a RX480 o.O

Thanks for the suggestion…
Can you override detection of specific hardware features within that on normal games?
maybe not override the detection but you can probably force which API to use
