Right Mouse Button Not Working

Hey guys that looks like this.

The RMB I have to hit the RMB in the right sport in order for it to register. When I am playing an FPS game and try holding it down to aim it wont stay aiming unless I put a lot of pressure down on it. What might be causing this issue and is there a way to correct it?

Here’s a great video explaining how to take apart a Logitech mouse. Should be quite similar to take apart your mouse, so that you can fix your right mouse button switch.

Looks like an M45?

The mouse separates on the seam on the underside of the mouse, right near the edge of the shell.

M45f

The easiest way to separate the pieces is to put pressure on the top shell going straight back (not down towards the mousepad) and then pry the “tail” of the mouse up. It can take some pressure to get off.

And then you get to the guts.

If the switch itself isn’t dirty, try pushing on the little white lever itself. It should feel exactly like the left switch. If it feels weird or you have to press in too far the switch itself might be broked. At that point you would either have to replace the switch itself or scrap it.

If the switch feels fine then the upper shell might just need to be realigned.

This is a classic case of micro switch failure, the actual button needs to be replaced. Those switches are quite common and can be replaced by any repair technician in about 10-15 minutes. If you were local (AU) I would offer to do it for free

Sometimes the micro-switch just needs to be cleaned. I’ve used DeoxIT contact cleaner to fix button issues on several Logitech mice. I’d try the contact cleaner method before resorting to dissembling the switch completely.

Thanks for the input, I was trying to take it apart but I am not sure about something. What type of screws are these and how do I removed them?

thats a poor picture but looks like a torx from here, from a guess.

not a torx

I think they are Torx according to a guide I found.

For a similar mouse.

its not the greatest pic… but you would know better. a torx will almost look like a alan key… except it has points on it… Perhaps a 6 pointed phillips screwdriver is another way to explain a torx
here is a pic… also if you got a chevy vehicle the signal lights are usually held on with torx.

Thanks for the input, I am gonna go look for a torx screwdriver.

Might as well get a tool set. I just have a cheap shit one but one from iFixit would be a good investment.

Looks like standard torx FWIW. There are two types:

I got the screws off. When I followed that video posted above I tried popping off the cover to the spring. The spring went flying and I found it. Now I am trying to get the spring back on but I am having trouble doing that.

Would anybody know how to put the little spring back onto the mouse?

Here is a picture of where the spring will go

Thanks to @Dje4321, I recently fixed my right-click by opening the switch and bending the spring. I also adjusted the left-click spring while I had the mouse dismantled. I have been using it for about two weeks since and it does not miss a click.

If it is the spring, the fix is easy.

…and thanks DJE.

Hold on… I had a video I watched to reassemble the spring… let me try and find it. I can tell you how to put the spring back if I can’t find the video. I did have to watch a video to get it on right.

You hook the spring in and then compress the middle. This creates tension… *getting the video… hopefully.

Got it: https://youtu.be/eDoXMJyimDU?t=2m54s

i know the feel. i usually buy the shit $10 wireless mice and im forced to fix the spring after getting addicted to minecraft every so often
