Richard Stallman Owns Man Pages

which is why I find the practice of dumping threads into the vaguer categories when submitting it, just to get around the politics ban to be absolutely hysterical. This is not news. It’s a non-troversy. It’s threads like this that perpetuate the meme that threads on certain topics will be locked because we can’t discuss things civilly.

If you have a story or article you think might be thread worthy, post it in the Lounge first. That way if nobody stops shitposting to discuss it, it’s probably not going to work out here.

@Eden @moderators

Please close this. I’m tired of people calling this a political thread. It was a thread about the FSF and Richard Stallman claiming authority on projects they don’t even contribute to.

AKA a tech topic in tech news

Weren’t you the person who brought up Marxism/socialism?

As well as posts in this thread like “Keep crying SJW”

Unless I’m mistaken, you seem to want an end to this thread purely because you’ve don’t want to hear the people who disagree.

I labeled him that, yes. I was corrected on the matter, but in reading his beliefs on his website, I don’t see where I’m mistaken. Dude calls for government intervention in several aspects of life. In the U.S., that’s enough to raise a few eye brows to some people.

That said, I’m not an asshole. I removed it when people were clearly upset about it.

That was one sentence in a multiple paragraph write up. 99% was not related to anything political.

Might not be news (though it is relatively current), but it is certainly policy discussion…

After how many people called me that first?

And way to take that out of context. I was saying Keep crying SJW as in keep crying wolf. As in “Keep calling me that, it’ll get you no where”

I’m not opposed to arguments, I’m tired of people labeling me and this thread as something that it’s not. I edited the OP, yet the message is still the same: Stallman overreached.

I see. Clearly I misunderstood your post in that case

@anon79053375 I can still close this if you’d still like? I think people are getting distracted from the core statements you were trying to get across.

On the Marxist stuff, I don’t think he fits, he isn’t convervative, but that doesn’t make someone a Marxist. He’s pro capitalism but does see a need for controls that a liberal person would not. But the fact that he’s pro capitalism in any way excludes him being being Marxist. If he was Marxist I would see his believes on areas all line up with it but they just don’t he doesn’t believe in redistribution of wealth.

Please do.

I understand there is a miscommunication through conventional and modern associations of the “ism” and “ist” words. Again, when I read his personal beliefs, that was the impression I got. If I was wrong, then I’m wrong. I accept that.

If Jensen Huang did something similar everyone would be holding hands and singing of the evildoings of Nvidia.
