Well the console was already designed and revealed in April 2013, so from there it is just marketing. I'm not sure they could add a desktop GPU without seriously changing the entire chassis of the consoles simply for airflow and power supply reasons. The A10-7850K at best could do 1080p/30fps/medium settings on some new games. Sony could not release a $500/600 console again and Microsoft was just arrogant. Both consoles were released on November (PS4 on Nov. 14, X1 on Nov. 22)
Just know I do not support consoles anymore and transitioning to PC soon.
hahaha look at all these people in the comments freaking the fuck out about the differences...Both consoles look 90% the same. This reminds me of making the upgrade from the 8800GT to my old 5870. I felt cheated because of how much people were hyping the 5000 series on forums and youtube, in the end the difference was pretty "meh"
Rich is extremely biased, close-minded, and for a stubborn guy that loves having an opinion, he spends very little time and very little effort researching and forming an accurate or respectable one.
He's trying to (or does) make a living by producing zero effort youtube videos and the guy's got some fun kooky quirks:
A. playing the "apologize and defend everything preemptively" game, and stirs up a lot of kickin' rad youtube drama
B. If you've been in the habit of reading one or two news articles a day about technology or gaming, you have what it takes to produce a video 100% to his standards. Put a very small amount of effort into recording yourself jacking off in COD, then record your idle thoughts about what you read that day and put them over that video: You too can follow his path to glory.
Not only does his commentary lack the detail and breadth of most other channels or websites with his tier of traffic, he's not funny or entertaining to listen to. His footage is subpar, he puts very little effort into editing, and his live filmed content blows. He doesn't understand the basics of having a set (films in a dungeonous hovel), lighting, or maintaining basic physical appearance and hygiene.
C. I'm not kidding, his sense of humor literally consists of him saying "nipples" and breathing really heavily. Homophobic even? How funny is a gay lisp, really, in 2014, Year Of The Social Justice Warrior Tumblrness??
D. Who cares about if Whateverest Game Ever 2014 Edition is going to run in 30 FPS on the Xbox One? That's Buzzfeed level clickbait. Cool.
I don't usually get my panties in a bunch like this about sperglords with youtube channels, but something about this guy and his temperament really makes me want to punch a kitten
The 7th generation will be my last console. I can understand if consoles cannot handle the graphics horse power of pc's, nobody is honestly expecting them too. However, when developers intentionally sabotage their pc port, or who think that 30fps is objectively better than 60fps just to sell more console games then there is a problem with the entire system.
Nothing needs to be done, its a non problem. The PC exists, buy one, build one, whichever you choose, then you can pick whatever resolution you want.
And for the love of the almighty FSM, please don't use a "something"-gate for a title. It was silly when they used it to describe that ridiculously stupid issue with that programmer and her douchebag boyfriend, and we really need to stop using it before it gets out of hand.
crashes? I have seen less crashes on PC games then console ones with the last 2 generations. Same goes for glitches. On both platforms glitches tend to be the same.
Cheaters... dunno I don't play Call of Duty or Counterstrike.
On that note matchmaking sucks for games like FPS because it never works. It's just a pr thing to "we just dump you where we want to"
Easy communication on consoles I don't get either. You can only use piece of crap as headphones and mics on a console as anything half decent isn't supported. Heck Sony in all there wisdom doesn't even support their own PS3 stuff on the PS4 just to rob you for more money.
Anyway no Sony and MS went on the performance train when they started and now they can't keep up. Heck the PS4 and XBone hardware was mediocre when it came out. Where with the PS3 and XB360 they still had top specs that could rival PC's. Now it's just stagnating innovation, because dev still don't see the pro's of an 10x bigger community in pc gaming.
