So, hopefully, those of you who know me on the forum here know I like activating retail copy games on steam, and just like retail games on PC in general. And although I haven't gotten a definitive answer in regards to whether or not Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 have retail releases in North America, I'm gonna take a guess and say it looks dismal... You might think that I could simply get an imported version. Well, since Valve introduced region locking... Yeah. Doesn't look like they would be much use for me. So, what should I do? Revelations 2 is literally 77 CENTS on Steam right now. Seventy-SEVEN CENTS! The Deluxe edition, however, is $19. What shall I ever do? I've been dying to play Revelations 1 & 2. But.... Region locking has made my gaming life painful on PC.
WHY DID THEY EVEN DO THIS. The consoles are outdoing the PC in that regard now, ffs! The PS3 had no region locks! FUCK VALVE!
Region locking came in with the likes of G2A selling keys from regions like Russia where it is still full price compared to their living wages but tonus it is 99%discount.
Simple money. Region locking does not exist on consoles because you can only import physical media which costs money either way and their online store is all ready region locked so it solves its self.
Dude, dude... RETAIL, PHYSICAL aka BOXED copies. In North America.
Does ANYONE here actually know if there was a boxed edition in North America, at all? Apparently, at least Revelations 2 did. But not Revelations 1? And if anyone is still confused. I mentioned Steam and region locking because when you get the physical boxed copy, the code that came with it is tied to the region it was produced/printed for. Just in case no one knew.
Doesn't seem like you'd be so picky if you were "dying to play them"
You said you wanted to activate them on steam anyway, so just buy a region locked version and splurge for the extra 77 cents for the NA steam key, of you want the box and disks so badly. Then you can even keep the box shrink-wrapped. would look nice on a shelf.
