I am hoping that someone might assist me with an issue with my Zalmon mid size tower case.
The case has 2-USB3 ports mounted on the top of the case and 2 USB2 ports on the front.
The issue is that the USB3 ports started off acting a bit wonky about a year after I purchased the case, now they do not work at all. The cable that runs to the case is connected to the motherboard with a 20 Pin male connector. I have checked the connector and all of the pins are fine (No Bent Pins) this then leaves the cable/USB3 connector or the USB3 motherboard 20 pin connector as an issue.
I have no USB3 20pin connector to test where the problem might be, does anyone have an experience such as this or can give me some directions that I might be able yo correct this situation?
Cheapest/best solution is going to just be to get some extenders, a 5.25" bay thing seems to be upwards of $20, while the cables at like 6 bucks
Yes you have the idea but the cabling is wrong. This is what I need with longer cables. Even with this I have to mount the USB 3 connectors on a fiber board for assembly into the case. I am confident that I can do that will a bit of time and patience.
Here is an image of what I need:
Streetguru was implying you just just extend your rear ports with a cable going to the front. if there's not enough of them just get a little hub
If you have a free 5.25 bay you could get this or something like it, and it will plug straight into your motherboard usb 3.0 header.
You could also try contacting Zalman customer support to see if they would send you a new front panel IO board.
Ya, just extend the ports from the back, otherwise, does that thing even work? there doesn't appear to be any electronics to control anything there
Also wait that would be a male adapter you wouldn't be able to plug anything in. I guess you'd want something like this
