I just ordered 6 16TB drives to upgrade my 8 4TB drives.
My server doesn’t have any more room for expansion.
I was thinking of setting up a secondary server put the 6 16TB drives in that and copy the data over. Then just remove the 8 4TB pool and swap the drives around then add the 6 6TB pool.
However I don’t know how TrueNAS will handle the new pool when I remove the old pool and import the new pool. Will I need to re-setup all of my share and snapshots/replication jobs? Or will TrueNAS just see a pool with the same name continue business as usual?
I know I could just buy 2 more drives and replace them one by one. But I don’t really have the budget for it as it seems kind of risky to rebuilt the array over and over again.
