Replacing a lamp rocker switch

Hey guys,

This is probably an odd request, but I am barely a tinkerer, and was hoping to replace this switch in a lamp (that was not cheap).

If someone could direct me to a youtube video or a website to purchase a small rocker switch? I do not really know the terminology to search for. Attached is a photo the lettering states, “KC 6388 6A 250V AC”.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know anything about this company, but…

Digikey, on the other hand… you’ll have to take some measurements, but you would probably get a close match.

that definitely looks like the right switch thanks so much

I think you are looking for a single pole, single throw (SPST) switch, that is rated for 250V. You could calculate the Amps, using the wattage of the light bulb in the lamp.

You might not find the exact one, but if it fits and it meets the electrical requirements, you should be good.

That first website seems to be in Bangledesh… maybe they might ship??

If you do go with digikey or another parts shop, it looks like the size is 21mm xs 15mm, but I didn’t see any on the digikey website that would fit that. Sometimes the “trade sizes” are measured in odd ways. Digikey shows the panel cutout size, which is the hole size that the switch would fit into. You will want to match the panel cutout size and the terminal style (it looks like a quick connect lug, but I’m not sure of the size).

Something like this might work??? Check the data sheets and compare the sizing.

I don’t know if I can go down this rabbit hole now

What about this? It doesnt have to match perfectly does it?

That looks a little small -the panel cut out is 13.5mm x 9mm. I think you switch is larger. Depending on the material of the lamp, you could make the hole larger?

Well I discovered a wire nut. I just cut the switch out…after yanking on something inside the lamp and a random wire popped off; that scared me cause I couldn’t get the enclosure open. Then, I dug for another wire and just stripped it and used the wire nut to connect the two wires.
