Hello all,
First post here. Could I please get some advice to choose an appropriate platform/mobo/cpu for my desired workload?
Planned workload, in order of importance:
- I plan to do mostly bursty, multithreaded, IO or CPU intensive jobs without sustained CPU load.
- kubernetes workload via ssh or whatever, while kid games.
- Qubes when I’m at the conn.
- I’d like ~native CPU/nvme performance (x4 gen4 if possible). ECC is near worthless to me.
Desired FF: mini-itx/dtx
Hardware I have:
3950x (I am within return window.)
2070 Super (I can buy different gpu.)
Things I would like to try:
Per-drive passwords from mobo UEFI, so at least eg. Windows can’t bork Linoohx and vice versa if I dual boot
Multiseat Linux
PCIE bifurcation
Adapting PCIE devices to eg. NVMe / Asus mkey slots
Additional Notes:
I am a little frustrated with Intel 4 core (4790k), and probably don’t need HEDT, but would prefer more cores, so maybe 9900k/10900k/3950x territory.
64GB ram is fine.
