[Recommendation] Which KVM to choose

Hi there, first time poster here, hope this is the right place for a question like this.

I’ve been on the fence about upgrading my KVM game for a while now, currently using a UGREEN device for 2 PC 1 Display. I’d like to upgrade my setup and add two additional displays and am looking at potentially grabbing the Combo USB-C PD - Triple Monitor unit.

My setup will look like this - 1 desktop PC (4080 GPU) and 1 Dell laptop with thunderbolt output. Displays will consist of one Odyssey G9 and two 27" 1440p MSI displays.

Based on that, would I need the USB-C combiner? Or, could this be a simple drop in replacement for the UGREEN device?

Hmmm. This sounds to me like you will need the combiner for the desktop. Also, you will need to drive 3 displays with that laptop.

Does the laptop support 3 external displays?

Does the laptop have 3 USBC ports for the KVM? You will need 2x USBC to DisplayPort cables, or a docking station.

Thanks for the reply Amber. The laptop is a Dell Latitude 5540 (i7 1370P) with Thunderbolt x2. I do have the WD25 docking station, but actually saw some weird artifacting when that was in the loop - like little horizontal bright white lines appearing randomly all around the screen. Once I took that out of the equation, and switched to a USB-C → DP cable, all has been well on that front.

You won’t need the USB-C combiner—this triple monitor KVM should just drop right in and work with your TB laptop and 4080 desktop.
