Real world prerformance difference between 2400mhz and 3200mhz ram ddr4

so my oc has shown to fail no real damage has been done and only caused even after all the stressing recommended by sites and tek syn, point of failure? HAND BRAKE of all things. ive since turned off my oc on my cpu completely and resorted to game boost bult into the msi bios. but doing so disables my ram from running at XMP 3200 which its spec to do so.

now will i see a performance difference ram wise from 3200 to 2400 mhz? or should i just disable game boost and just rock the 4.0 ghz clock and run xmp 3200mhz?

For gaming not so much, however, the only game engine that's been documented and straight from the horse's mouth to benefit from faster ram is Frosbite Engine. Although, I must point out the engine version that was benchmarked at that time was Battlefield 3, and the ram used was DDR3 which was still the standard then. Video Editing definitely might see a performance drop.

If I recall correctly, there is very little real world performance difference with anything about 2133mhz DDR4 RAM. At least, that's what some of reviews/comparisons have revealed at Tom's Hardware.

Synthetic benchmarks, naturally, so a bit of difference, but those are synthetics.

I´m personaly not a huge fan of artificial tools like Game boost.
If you want a overclock, its allways better to do that directly from within the bios / uefi.

Your overclock failed can be caused by allot of reasons.
Fine tuning an overclock can be a very time consuming task, especialy with certain X99 motherboards.
Best way is to look up some specific overclocking guides according to your motherboard, and start from there.
The problem is that every system is diffrent, so thats why it could be very time consuming to get your particular parts to run stable.

About ram speeds benefits.
This highly depends on the workloads you are doing.
For gaming there are a few games that seem to benefit a bit from ram speeds.
But if you have a balanced gpu + cpu combo, then ram speeds dont have much impact on gaming performance.
If i remember right on Skylake platforms there are some certain scenario´s that ram speed showed some slight benefits in certain games and gaming scenario´s.
