I’ve had this mouse going almost 3 years (coming up this September 2017). Over the past few months I noticed that the rubber on the side of the has started to rub off and more so every day. Basically I’ve worn through the dimples and now the surface is flat but its just rubbing off pretty badly. It’s now starting to turn into an almost putty type of consistency. Primarily on the left side under the buttons . Has anyone else experienced this. Or with any other brand of mouse?
Is this the new normal for mice?

It sucks because otherwise the mouse is fine but dirty rubber particulates are starting to get annoying.

In my experience every sinlg mmouse with rubber ends up like that or similarly, rubber just doesnt last longer than that

And this is why we need less RGB and more industrial o-ring type silicon on gaming gear…

Meh, my MMB on my Func MS-2 just stopped working… 1.5 years in. I have to open it up, to inspect. At least your mouse is still working properly, I assume?

No, that has been normal for decades.

Structural PVC and GFRN will last forever.

So will other plastics, just not intact :joy:

Yeah, I’ve had my Rival for 3 years now and it’s exactly the same haha. All the rubber is essentially gone underneath the left side buttons. Although mine never turned to putty, it just kind of disappeared over time haha.

If that is the first version of the rival. It is a common issue. They were issuing RMAs for people in warranty. I kill buttons after a couple years on all mice except the old logitechs.
