Got a Gigabyte TRX40 Designaire with a pair of mismatched M.2 drives (Old Firecuda 420 2TB and a new Samsung 990 pro 4TB) and a pair of new Optane 5800x NVME U.2 drives (connect to an x8 pass through controller). Note the drives are seen individually just fine, and I was even able to move my OS to one, boot from it, test, etc. Trying to setup a RAID 0 array though…
I go into SATA config, enable NVME raid mode, reboot, go into RaidXpert2, but it doesn’t see either of the Optane drives, just the two old U.2 drives. It does show all 4 controllers, but the two controllers with the optane disks show 0 drives under RaidXpert. If I replace the Optane drives with some other random U.2 NVME drives I have on the same interface, it doesn’t see those either. RaidXPert only appears to work on the m.2 slots or sata ports…at least on this motherboard? Or is there something else I’m missing?
Note that if I’m not in RAID mode, I can see the optane drives just fine (and boot and run windows off it). Is RaidXpert just…bugged? How can I get it to see these u.2 drives?
I’d be happy with the single optane drive for boot, but it’s only 1.5TB so would prefer a RAID0 to double that.
Also…I would really prefer NOT to remove m.2 drives physically if at all possible. They’re hard to get to…under the GPUs (which are watercooled with hardline tubing, so super painful to remove).
