Raid Card Questions

I have been using a Vantec 4-Channel 6-Port SATA 6Gb/s PCIe RAID Host Card in my file server and i was needing more ports so i upgraded to a Adaptech Raid ASR-51245 512mb 12 port PCIe SAS/SATA Raid Controller card. I was never using the raid function of the 1st card i was only using it for more SATA ports. But when i tried to do the same with the Adaptech card my OS doesn’t see the drives at all. When i go into the raid card i can see all drives attached. What do i have to do to get the card to pass the drives to the OS? I want to use Unraid as my OS

You may have to switch the card into an HBA mode so that it simply passes through the disks to the system. I bet its masking the drives, expecting you to create RAID arrays that would then be exposed to the system.
