I'm planning a water cooling build in my trusty define r5 because I'm so fucking original and I was wondering whether to go with a slim 420 or a big fat 360 for the top radiator. Also I'm planning to use the SP120/SP140 from corsair or the venturi fans. What should I go with to get the best temps? Any suggestions for other setups are also welcome.

depends on mow much thicker the 360 is. If it is extra thick, Id get high flow Static fans. with a 420 you can get away with lower RPM fans. You could actually get away with lower RPM fans in either one. but which one gets better cooling will come down to your fans when you are comparing between these two Rads. The thing that will matter is fin count. so if you have a higher fin count in the 360, id go for it.
Fin Density is key. if you have better fin density on the 420 and use low rpm fans you will get better cooling than a low fin density 360 even with high rpm noisy fans. Consider everything you want in the build like noise performance and build space before you make the decision. Id recommend the 420 so you can keep the system quiet.
get a thick 360 (45mm) pair it with some ek vardars call it a day.
this is what I use with ek vardars loop temps never broke 40 when i had it cooling a cpu and graphics card.

I would go with 420 for one reason and one reason only. R f-ing 5... Once you remove those panels, you need something to cover up those holes to stop the dust coming in. Larger fans will cover most of the ugly a** roof...
Also, thin can allow for push pull with stupid low speed fans, making it quiet as f*ck...
Just one thing - having silence optimized case, just to remove the noise dampening... yeah...

Arctic Cooling...
It really does work amazingly well... It pushes air even on really really low speeds, and it's freaking quiet... I love how people spend 20+$ for fans, and i can get similar performance for 7$ for F12 and 11$ for F14...
Man, i can get F12 in my country for 4$ and F14 for 9$... Really expensive Arctic fans in US... Interesting...

Those look Identical to the NZXT FN 120 fan that came in my Source 210. They have the static pressure of someone with asthma blowing through a coffee stir straw
I know... The F12 look identical to Fractal SSR2 120... Works WAY better and WAY quieter... Haven't tested 140s, because i have 5 140s atm... But i would not compare NZXT to Arctic...

I see now that my fan choice wasnt very thought out. Im gonna get some vardars. What speeds are you running yours at and how loud are they. Im thinking Ill probably go with a slim 420 since id be able to have my fans at a lower rpm but Im not sure yet.

They are the 1850rpm varient they run at 10% at idle and top out at 50% at load though I could easily run them much much slower. 30% would work fine
