Radeon HD 7870 or 7950

I need to know if it will be worth the extra $100 for the 7950 or if I should just go with the 7870, I want to knout what the difference will be in maxing out BF3, Metro 2033, Crysis 3, and just overall performance difference.  The only other thing I'll be doing is a bit of bitcoin mining

Specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1045T

GPU: Radeon HD 5450 2GB

RAM: 8GB G.SKILL Vengence

PSU: Thermaltake TX600

personaly i would lean to the 7950  just a bit better all around. but the 7870 is nothing to scoff at either. so pick the one that hurts your wallet the least and you will be happy.

i would say for the system you have right now, a 7870 ghz edition.

it would be just fine.

i have a his radeon 7870 ghz edition. on stock clock i runn metro 2033 about 87/100 fps maxed out 1680/1050  on DX9 / on DX11 40/50 fps.

What I'm looking for are side by side comparisons of performance using the cards, seeing as I'm not getting many replies/info I'll probably buy Radeon HD 7950

Get the 7950 deal on newegg today. It's like 250 dollars for a 7950. Dunno if it's still going though.

That being said, a 7870 XT is an amazing card, and is basically a 7930. Best way to describe it. A 7870 xt has the same processor (tahiti le) as the 7950.

Here's some comparison data:

Thanks for the help and I've com to the conclusion of if I get the money I'll buy the 7950 if not I'll be happy with the 7870

Lol... If you max out chrysis 3 (including filters) you're not going to get decent framerates... Period.

And don't get a 7870 ghz edition. Get a 7870 xt/Tahiti le. Much better card.

ofc not... then you need a 7970 or so.

i just set the texture resolution to very high, didnt touch the antialiasing.. system spec set to high.

and it was very well playable ☻

about 30-45 fps, and somethimes 50-60 fps, but mostley around 30-40 fps, somethimes it drops back with very much quick and much movements, to about 28 fps, but its very well playable, on thease settings.ofc not everything maxed out.

for that you realy gonne need a 7970 i guess. but for a stock 7870 ghz not bad at all.

settings i used:

but i think a 7950 is worth the money ☻

Go for the 7950, i just Finished playing through Crysis 3 on mine (great game and comes with the 7950)

with it OC'd to 1100Mhz core and 1575Mhz memory i average 50-60Fps on settings with

Very High textures

Very high Effects and Objects

and the rest on a mix of High and Medium with 2x SMAA
