So I just bought a 840 evo 120gb. Should I use the sata cables that came with my motherboard or the ssd. Are the ones that came with the motherboard 6gb/s. I'm guessing the one that came with the ssd is.

There isn't a difference. Use which ever one has the most appropriate length and angles.
the difference between SATAI,II,&III is the speed of the controller- the cable is the same.
Use the most aesthetically pleasing cable i guess?
