A cheap way to personalize your keyboard for gaming is to use cabinet bumpers.

The MS Ergo keyboard isn't very ergonomic when it comes to gaming. The rubber stops provide a tactile key reference as well as make them easier to use in conjunction with one another. All I have to to is move my hand and slightly press on the elevated control key to use ctrl bound keys.
