Question about Linux security before I make the switch

I have two computers that use windows 10. Now as of recently I've quit gaming altogether and I realized it is rather tedious to disable a lot of features in windows to acquire a reasonable level of security. Now I have question if I swap over to Linux (something like mint) and run a virtual box with windows 10 that way I get access to office and some other simple applications, how would the security be? Would Windows 10 have access to all my files while I run it simultaneously in Linux or would the only files and info available within Windows be "spied" on?

win 10 would only have access to the files available in the vm

Every file that will be within the vm will be vulnerable. Anything outside the vm will be safe from the tracking. If you do not require internet connection for the vm you can cut if off completely...
