I have a problem I have been trying to debug for a while and can’t get to the bottom of.
I have an arch linux host. 9950x3d + AMD 6800xt GPU.
I have a 5090 I pass completely through to a windows guest VM for looking-glass.
I got this configured and working and i was getting 100fps perfect gaming no issues.
After some time i “SUDDENLY” had massive performance issues. 30fps, massive hitching stuttering. I tried lots of things on both host and guest but I eventually found that a fresh VM with fresh windows install fixed it.
Some weeks later the same thing happened. I have tried and failed to debug and am kicking myself for not keeping a closer eye on what might have changed.
I am about to reinstall a new VM and start again but I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas what might be happening.
Latencymon reports slow interrupts to the GPU driver, but they are all confugured nicely using the MSI tool.
Ive tried fresh installs of the nvidia drivers a few times.
Ive tried having none of the nvidia apps installed.
ive tried killing loads of services or background tasks.
Quite infuriating.
However I believe this problem is nothing actually to do with looking-glass itself (probably)
