Printer Default Page Size Problems

My family has a Brother MFC-T920DW Printer. Every time a certain family member tries to print from Microsoft word, the printer refuses to print, and as a result I constantly get bothered by this stupid issue. This family member uses a Macbook.

Word for some reason can’t seem to grasp the fact that we are halfway around the world from North America and always defaults to US Letter page size, which we don’t have. Whenever they hit print the printer refuses to print because it is not A4.

Is there any way to stop word from doing this, or alternatively:

  • A setting in the printer that will let it ignore the mismatch between A4 and Letter and print anyway when it receives documents in Letter Size

OR

  • A setting or a piece of software that will deal with this on the computer side. Like some setting to make word default to A4 instead of Letter

If you have not yet, check what is set up in word. This could very well be a Micro$oft SNAFU

Change the paper size to A4, and save it in the default template (used to be NORMAL.DOT but is probably something else by now). Surely you can find a docment on how to do that for the particular version of Word in use.

However, this will only fix the issue for new documents, not for existing ones; those will have to be adjusted manually.
