Youtube threw me an ad about this doohiky, which apparently is a re-creation of some ye-olde tech called a camera lucida.
Seems like some art tech I’d love to see Krista review/play with.

Interesting! I’ve never used anything like this, though I did use a lightbox frequently when working on ink drawings. I would do a pencil sketch to get the rough form right, then place that sketch down on a light table, take another sheet of paper, and draw a more “polished” version of the sketch on the new sheet to be inked. Basically this process. Makes for a much cleaner final image if you don’t have to erase all your pencil marks each time.
