Just wondering if anyone on here has done something like this before as I was given a cheapo LED projector over the holidays but the native rez is so bad reading text becomes a headache.
Native rez is 320 X 240 That is like a Gameboy advance 
I was wondering if I could take it part and replace the LCD with one from an old Mobile phone that would at least give me 720p.
I’ve heard of the LED being upgraded plenty of times, but I think if you want to upgrade the LCD, you’d have to replace the internal controller for it too, and by that point you’d probably be better buying a different projector. I don’t know if any standard for projector LCDs.
I thought as much. I googled for some LCD’S noticed some came with controllers so wasn’t sure if that’s just for scaling or if anything else was nesicery.
My guess is that if this thing is only able to pump out a 240p image then I doubt It’ll manage a 720p image without better cooling.
I’ll look into getting a better one for around £150 on payday.
If you’re wanting a decent projector and don’t mind a bit of modding, you might be able to get a half decent one off eBay as ‘broken’ when it just needs a new bulb. Then mod in an LED, you might even be able to use the LED from your current projector.
