some reason my PC takes at least 5 mins to open google chrome and this is after I restarted it my specks are fx 4130 8gb ram 1 TB segate barracuda I'm using windows 7
Check the HDD with 'Crystal Disk Info'.
If your on Windows 8 look for 'Optimize Disks' and run that.
Also, open Task Manager and see if any processes are using an obscene amount of memory or CPU.
I'll try the hdd thing but for the usage I've got rain meter and it shows me how much is being used and the cpu was at 0%
When was the last time you installed your OS?
I've had it for about a year and a half
Ah never mind I just realised that was the wrong one :)
Yeah you should use 'Disk Info' not 'Disk Mark'
That was crystaldiskMARK what kai asked for was crystaldiskINFO that is a completely different program but from the same site.
The score you got in mark is a bit low but nothing out of the ordinary probably only need a good defrag (like the "optimize disk that kai said") too get a bit better speed.
Windows xp/7/8 built in defrag works but there are better programs out there.
What i use and have used for years is iobit´s smart defrag that have a small prg running all the time (use low memory and low cpu) and defrag all harddrives when the computer idle.
Also can be told too move the most used files to the front of the hd which gives a small bit of performance boost.
would it be a good idea to defrag my disk if i have linux installed on it as well?
Your C: drive is 90% full. Do you have any files / large games you can remove?
If we can get it down to about 80% than try to 'Defragment Disks' (look for it in start menu) we can see if that improves the performance.
Windows will only defragment it's own partition. Don't worry.
