PC locking up/fans going to 100%

Maybe update will improve that ? Sure money is QVL listed ram or you can manually find the best ram speeds. Lots of ram tinkering in that. Suggest reading up on it.

Well i see that you are running a 3700X cpu.
Maybe it could be that your said cpu does not like to run the infinity fabric at 1800mhz.
Most Ryzen 3000 series cpu’s should basically have no issues with running 1800mhz on the infinity fabric, which basically equals to 3600mhz on the memory speed.
But sometimes occasionally you could have bad luck just getting one,
of worst examples of the 3700X.

But yeah i suppose your friend is likely not willing to lent,
you his cpu to try that out haha.

Is there anyway to reliably test that?

I should’ve knocked on wood harder. Everything was stable for 3 days or so then it locked up again today. No rhyme or reason how or why. Infuriating.

Not really i think, other then replacing the cpu itself.
but yeah it would be a waste of money if it does not turn out to be the cull prit.
Unless you could sell your current 3700X and upgrade to a 3900X.
But that might be overkill for your needs.

Still yeah there is really no guarantee that replacing the cpu,
might result in better stability at higher memory clocks.
So yeah it might be a stupid idea…
Basically the 3700X should be stable at some point right?
If you dial back the memory speeds.
Still i have seen occasional rare cases on which people seem’d,
to have some struggles with memory speeds above 3200mhz on a 3700X cpu in particular.

G.skill Trident Z kits should generally work fine with x570 / B550 and Ryzen 3000.
