I am 16 got a job, looking for a alright gameing pc and need some help picking parts so far i have it down to the FX-8350 and the i5-570k and the GPU i have alot of off and on moments with I need a pc that plat BF3 and record with Fraps looking to do a bit of gameplay but don't want to spend over 1,000$ on it with out screens.
Also i am makeing the swich from Xbox to pc. A friend of mine sugested a 670 but i don't think i need the power of that i was looking at crossfire 7770's or a 7850 i am a fan of radion and amd i like the underdog but i do what my moneys worth out of the pc also ik that 8-cores want be used i was going to use them to run fraps and other 4-cores for the game would that work
this pc will not be mainly for bf3 i will play it and once in awhile upload a video but mosty minecraft and planitside do i even need a extream gpu
For recording, more cores are generally better, I would think the 8350 is better than the I5 for that, but I haven't even touched on those CPUs as I'm using my humble 4100, which handles BF3 quite well. Without recording that is. I don't really know which is best for recording.
For graphics card, I'd go with either 7950, 7970 or on the Nvidia side of things, 680 or 690. That is concidering you're going to record in-game footage. I have the 7850, which again, handles BF3 just about right (in ultra). If, however, I were to record anything, I'd struggle a bit.
See what other responses there might be, I know little of the really high end components, as mine are more in the low/mid area
Useally the bottleneck is not the cpu or graphics card it's the write speed of your HDD for that i would recommend going for raid 0 SSD configuration rather than using all the money for CPU cores and GPU. Going with i5-2500K or i i5-3570K should be good enough for frapsing because only handfull of games support more than 2 cores/threads, but if you take a look at my system specs i can run BF3 on ultra presettings 60FPS without fraps so i think that should give you a good compare point what you need. Bare in mind that my CPU and GPU and both heavily overclocked.
In your sitsuation i think it is impossible to atchieve your goal of frapsing BF3 on Ultra graphs +60FPS with 1000$ computer for that you would need to propably double the money spent.
So for me to give you proper answer i need to know wich is more important to you frapsing with high FPS or smoother gameplay?
And no you don't need extreme GPU if you go with z77 chipset or newer so you can play on your GPU and use fraps/convert media with your onboard GPU
